Communications Director - Brad Grabill![]() Brad began his barbershop experience with The Tampa Bay Heralds of Harmony by attending their annual show in 1998, when some generous Herald gifted him with a seat in the nosebleed section. That's all it took! He attended his first rehearsal two weeks later, and has never looked back. For twenty-two years Brad served as a pastor, working with congregations in California, Indiana, and Florida. Since 1999 he's been a teacher and department leader at The Cambridge School in Tampa. In 2000, along with three fellow HERALDS, the quartet formerly known as “Songfellows” was formed with Brad singing lead. They retired at the beginning of 2010. Within the Heralds, he assists the chorus in preparing the weekly newsletter, acting as web master and facilitating various organizational communications. He also frequently acts as the chorus MC, helps with chorus auditions and lugs risers! But, of course, the best part by far.... is the singing! |

HoH Board Member-at-Large (2010) - Mark Tuttle![]() Past President of St. Louis Suburban Chorus |
HoH Board Member-at-Large (2011) - Brian Bovino![]() I began singing with my father at around the age of nine with the "sounds of concord" in the northeastern district. I also performed with the "Worcester men song" until going away to college in 1998. After being away from this great hobby for almost eight years, I finally looked up the Tampa chapter on the internet and went to a rehersal and I was hooked...again. Music has always been a part of me and I could not be happier singing again. No where will you find such amazing, generous, caring people to share such exciting experiences with and travel to so many wonderful locations. |

Music Librarian - Ed McKenzie
Ed joined barbershopping with the Tidelanders in Houston, Texas. His first night at chapter meeting, there was a piano in the Rice Hotel ballroom where the chapter rehearsed and that seemed pretty normal, as he had been in choruses and choirs since he was a youngster. However, he soon discovered that this was not any typical vocal group rehearsal as the piano was only used to hold stacks of music. Not a single note was played on it all night. The rehearsal was pretty interesting and the music very enjoyable. Then, the Innsiders (who came in 4th that year) sang after the break and Ed was hooked. Two guys, (John Pickul and Bob Natoli) asked him to join their quartet and Ed jumped right in. It was later that he realized that John and Bob made it their mission to get new guys into a quartet and infect them with the quartet experience. They also were able to get outstanding coaching for the quartet in the person of John Devine, lead singer of the Innsiders, future director of the chorus, and a long time sparkplug in the Southwest District. Ed was then stationed in Milwaukee, where he joined the Racine Dairystatesmen and went to International several times with that chorus. From there, the next duty station was Long Beach, CA. From his home, he could reasonably commute to 14 different chapters, 5 of which were Century Chapters (over 100 singers). He selected the Whittier Choralaires, directed by Earl Moon, and immediately was made to feel at home. While at Whittier, Ed switched from his normal bass to tenor, then bari, singing in several chapter quartets. After three years, he was able to earn a spot on the front row. While there he earned his MBA, using the chapter as the subject of his thesis on volunteer organizations. After California, he went to College Station, TX, where he founded a local chapter with Bo Allen and Dennis Driscoll. He also sang in a quartet with them. In 2003, he moved to Chattanooga, TN, where he joined the Cleveland Scream Machine, co-directed by brothers Chad and Brandon Guyton of 4 Voices. Within the Heralds, Ed is a member of the music team and handles all FINALE music notation projects for the chorus. |

Tag Team Coordinator - Joe Kane![]() Joe is a Philadelphia native who first found the joy of barbershopping while in north-central Pennsylvania in the mid-1990's. Over the next decade Joe sang lead or baritone in several Mid-Atlantic area quartets and gradually ventured south, eventually joining the Alexandria Harmonizers in 2002 and earning two International bronze medals in 2004-05, while singing the lead, bass, and baritone parts. Joe also sang baritone for the mic-testers of the 2005 Dixie District Prelims contest, PANiC, before relocating to Florida in late 2005. Since then he has sung in three registered SUN quartets, Talk of the Town, Getaway, and Crosstown Express, the latter two of which were finalists in SUN quartet competitions. Joe is a member of the North Carolina Harmony Brigade, and a co-founder of the Atlantic Harmony Brigade. Uniform and Costuming Manager - Dick Sipple![]() Dick began singing in his high school chorus and competed in district school competition. He also sang in church choir. Dick joined the society in 1962 and the Cherry Capital Chorus. He was with the Capital Chorus for eleven years. Marty Churgwyn was the Director. Dick served as chapter treasurer for three years. Due to his work schedule, he didn't have time for his hobby. But, after 42 years in broadcasting, he retired from WTVT Fox. In 2000, he decided that it was time to rejoin the society and became a member of the Heralds. The last five years with the chorus have been great and he is looking forward to many more. |
Valentine Day Program Manager - Randy Lawson![]() Society member since 1998, Past President of the St Petersburg Chapter, Heralds or Harmony member since 2003 |
Vice President - Financial Development - Bill Phipps![]() Lucky for me, my school chorus director was a barbershopper in the Suncoast Chorus. So, I sang in my first quartet at age 15. This was a great experience and kept me interested (barbershop shows and recordings) for many years until I finally did something about it again, joining the St. Petersburg Chapter in 1999. I took on the VPM&P job there and was BOTY in 2002. I sang in a registered quartet, the Tag-A-Longs, for 2 years. EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL PASTIMES |

Steve has held a variety of positions on the board of directors since 1994 and has handled the marketing for the chorus since joining and coordinates the production of chorus show programs and marketing materials as well as handling public relations activities. He has been a performer in the Herald's front row for 14 years and was named the chorus' Barbershopper of the Year in 1999. A 35 year veteran in the marketing and advertising industry, he is President of BKW Marketing Communications, a full service advertising agency, in Tampa. |
